I have a few minutes to visit HB, so here is a quick update on my vacation.
Yesterday, I was in Seattle to attend the commencement of my youngest niece at the University of Washington. She is a very nice and accomplished young lady. She graduated in four years with double majors in accounting and informatics. Between her scholarships and her part-time and summer jobs (at Microsoft and Boeing), my sister and her husband (who are not well off) did not have to contribute anything towards her college education. She already has a good job lined up. She and I are pretty close, and I am one proud uncle.
Today, I celebrated Father's Day with my 95-year-old father-in-law and his four children and their spouses in Vancouver. He is an artist and a bohemian who has never been very domestically-oriented nor a good provider for his family. Nevertheless, he has my grudging admiration just by doing still quite well at his age and being such a free spirit all his life.
